Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, praised U.S. President Donald Trump, describing him as a leader who is seriously striving for peace, emphasizing that his mediation attempts regarding the war in Ukraine have become more effective. Medvedev explained that Trump aims to immortalize his name as a 'peace-making' president, which makes communication with the U.S. side more productive.
At the same time, Medvedev raised questions about the U.S. nuclear submarines, which Trump previously announced would be deployed near Russian shores, noting that Moscow has not detected any signs of them so far. He added that Russia expects to achieve a military victory in the Ukrainian war while being careful to prevent any additional conflicts.
Medvedev also addressed Trump's approach to U.S. institutions, describing it as bold and sometimes yielding positive results, pointing out that the chaos associated with his behavior is not entirely accurate, jokingly commenting that understanding Trump requires looking at his business background, in line with an old Russian joke that says, 'there is no such thing as a former intelligence agent.'
This comes in the context of preparations for a new round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations mediated by the U.S. in Abu Dhabi, aimed at reaching a solution to end the years-long conflict.
