Latest Developments in the Middle East: Iran Sets Condition for Ceasefire

In the latest statements from Tehran, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib Abadi confirmed yesterday, Monday, that the first condition for a ceasefire is the cessation of further strikes on Iranian territory.
He added in his remarks to state television that "some countries, including China, Russia, and France, have contacted Iran regarding a ceasefire."
In light of the escalating tensions, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei attacked the United States' justifications for the attack, describing them as "weak pretexts," asserting that "there is no reason or justification for war other than the division and weakening of Iran."
He added that any talk of a ceasefire is futile as long as the attacks continue, emphasizing that Iran will continue to defend itself by all available means.
Baqaei also criticized U.S. intervention in the region, considering it the cause of chaos and instability in the Middle East.
In contrast, the United States and Israel announced that the military operation would continue for several more weeks, raising international warnings about the risk of the conflict expanding.
Iranian forces, particularly the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, confirmed their commitment to continue the confrontation, even if it lasts for six months, with readiness to launch missiles weighing a ton or more in response to the attacks.
This escalation comes at a time when international diplomatic efforts to calm the situation are ongoing, amid fears of the conflict spreading in the Middle East, putting the region on the brink of a prolonged confrontation between the warring powers.
