Today, Monday, two forest fires broke out in Latakia Governorate, the first in the areas of Al-Mizrah and Al-Qalayl near the city of Qardaha, where the firefighting teams of the Syrian Civil Defense and forest firefighting brigades, in cooperation with the locals, rushed to confront the flames and prevent their spread to residential areas and nearby crops.
The second fire erupted near the city of Haffa, and firefighting teams managed to control it before it reached civilian homes, but it caused damage to several olive trees, amid warnings of renewed ignition due to winds and rising temperatures.
These incidents come amid fears of the expansion of forest fires along the Syrian coast, especially with the onset of the dry season, which necessitates enhancing preventive readiness and intensifying awareness campaigns.
