Jerusalem: 7 Dead and 14 Injured Near Bus Station in Ramot

In a serious security development that shook the Israeli capital this morning, Monday, the Ramot neighborhood north of Jerusalem witnessed a bloody shooting near a bus station, resulting in the death of 7 people and the injury of 14 others, including 5 in critical condition.

According to initial information, two gunmen boarded one of the buses and opened fire randomly on the passengers, before the Israeli police responded and managed to kill them at the scene of the incident.

The police later confirmed that a security personnel and an armed civilian intervened quickly and opened fire on the attackers, which led to their immediate neutralization.

The police stated that the attackers arrived at the site via a private vehicle and began shooting towards the crowded bus station, causing chaos and panic in the area.

Following the incident, Israeli forces imposed a strict security cordon around the Ramot neighborhood intersection and closed all entrances to the city of Jerusalem in anticipation of any subsequent security developments.

In the West Bank, the Israeli army announced the reinforcement of its forces in several areas, especially in the suburbs of Ramallah, where it began to besiege several villages as part of the investigations into the attack.

A military statement indicated that Israeli forces stormed the home of one of the attackers in the village of Qatna, northwest of Jerusalem, and Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir confirmed that the military effort will remain focused on the Gaza Strip, with enhanced deployment in the West Bank to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.

It is noteworthy that the city of Jerusalem has not witnessed an attack of this magnitude for nearly two years, with the last major incident occurring in October 2024, when a car-ramming attack took place near a military base in Tel Aviv, resulting in injuries to several Israeli soldiers.

Today's incident is considered one of the most violent attacks targeting Israeli civilians in the heart of Jerusalem in years, coming amid rising security tensions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with warnings of a new cycle of violence that could extend to other areas.
