Israeli Airstrikes on Southern Lebanon Result in Casualties

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 4 people, including a woman, were killed and 51 others, including 3 children, were injured due to Israeli airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon, despite the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

These developments come amid a continuous escalation since the ceasefire began on April 17, which has seen repeated violations from both sides.

Rising Casualty Toll Since Ceasefire Began in April

According to statistics from the French news agency based on data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in at least 40 deaths in Lebanon since the fragile ceasefire began on April 17.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health's emergency operations center announced that the total number of deaths due to Israeli shelling since March 2 until midnight Sunday has risen to 2,521, in addition to 7,804 injuries.

Targeting Towns in Southern Lebanon and Ongoing Military Escalation

Israeli aircraft launched strikes on the towns of Ghindouriya and Majdal Selm in southern Lebanon, coinciding with machine-gun operations targeting the outskirts of the town of Al-Bayyadah.

The Israeli army also carried out an explosion in the town of Rab Tlassin in southern Lebanon, according to the official Lebanese National News Agency.

Israel: Targeting Infrastructure Related to Hezbollah

For its part, the Israeli army announced that it carried out airstrikes on what it described as "infrastructure" belonging to Hezbollah in eastern and southern Lebanon.

The army added that it has destroyed more than 50 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon in recent days, including an underground complex it claimed was used to carry out attacks.

Hezbollah Announces Targeting Israeli Military Vehicles

In turn, Hezbollah announced that it targeted a Merkava tank in a border village, as well as an Israeli military bulldozer while it was demolishing homes in the border town of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.

This comes as part of the ongoing exchange of military operations along the Lebanese southern border.

Details of the Ceasefire Agreement and Recent Extension

U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel that began on April 16, following extensive military escalation since March 2.

Later, on April 23, it was announced that the ceasefire would be extended for an additional 3 weeks in an attempt to contain the rising tensions between the two sides.

Continued Escalation Despite Fragile Ceasefire

Field developments indicate a continuation of military escalation despite the ceasefire agreement, with Israel and Hezbollah exchanging accusations of launching attacks and targeting military and civilian sites, amid a tense security situation on Lebanon's southern border.
