Gideon Sa'ar's Statements: Israel Does Not Seek to Control Land in Lebanon

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar confirmed that Israel has no ambitions regarding Lebanese territory, emphasizing that the presence of Israeli forces in the northern border areas is primarily aimed at protecting Israeli citizens only.

Sa'ar's statements came during a joint press conference with his Serbian counterpart Marko Djuric, where he noted that the Israeli military deployment in southern Lebanon falls under purely security considerations, according to reports from Agence France-Presse.

Israeli Warnings to Evacuate More Than 10 Villages in Southern Lebanon

In a rising field context, the Israeli army issued urgent warnings to residents of more than 10 villages in southern Lebanon, demanding their evacuation and relocation northward.

The army explained that this decision came in light of what it described as a "violation of the ceasefire by Hezbollah," urging civilians to stay away from the party's positions and weapon storage sites to avoid any potential harm.

Tel Aviv: Targeted Villages Outside Security Line and Risk of Operations Remains

The Israeli army reported that the villages included in the evacuation order are located outside what is known as the "yellow line," which was announced about 10 days ago in southern Lebanon, and which Israel considers a security area to protect its northern borders.

Tel Aviv confirmed that it reserves the right to carry out military operations within these areas against Hezbollah if what it describes as threats continue.

Netanyahu: Continuation of Military Operations Against Hezbollah

For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will continue its military operations in Lebanon, pointing out that Hezbollah's possession of missiles and drones necessitates ongoing military responses despite the ceasefire agreement.

Netanyahu affirmed that the current security situation does not allow for halting operations in light of continued attacks on Israeli forces.

Exchange of Accusations and Violations of the Ceasefire Agreement

Reports indicate that tensions continue despite U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel starting mid-April, following extensive military escalation.

The truce was later extended for an additional 3 weeks, yet field violations persisted from both sides, according to mutual accounts.

Ongoing Military Escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli Border

Since early March, military confrontations between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated, with the region witnessing intensive Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon and the vicinity of Beirut and the Bekaa, alongside military incursions into some border towns.

Israel accuses the party of launching attacks with explosive drones that have resulted in casualties among its forces, while the party asserts that its operations are in response to Israeli escalation.

Background of the Escalation and the Course of Regional Confrontation

This escalation is linked to broader tensions in the region, following military confrontations between Iran on one side, and Israel and the United States on the other, which have directly impacted the Lebanese front.

Israel states that its operations aim to prevent threats coming from the northern borders, while Lebanese sources confirm that the Israeli bombardment has caused widespread destruction within the southern villages.
