Iraq: Explosion Halts Oil Production at Sarsang Field in Kurdistan

HK Energy company announced through its account on the "IX" platform that an explosion has led to the halt of production at a facility belonging to the Sarsang oil field managed by the company in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, adding that firefighting teams are still trying to extinguish the fire.
An oil engineer told Reuters that production operations have stopped as a precautionary measure.
The company stated in its press release today, Tuesday: "All employees have been counted and their safety has been confirmed, with no injuries reported. However, the facility is still on fire, and emergency response teams are actively working to control the situation".
It is worth mentioning that in recent weeks, Iraq, especially the Kurdistan region, has witnessed several attacks with drones and missiles whose perpetrators have not been identified by the authorities, according to AFP.
This explosion comes a day after the regional authorities announced the downing of an explosive-laden drone near Erbil International Airport and the fall of two others in the Khurmal oil field.
