The head of internal security in Homs Governorate, Major General Marhaf Al-Nassan, announced today, Saturday, that the security forces managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle weapons to neighboring countries through illegal crossings in the Al-Qusayr area, in a qualitative security operation carried out by the specialized units.
The operation resulted in the seizure of "RBG" type shells, machine guns, and a warehouse containing more than 200 Grad missiles, which were prepared for smuggling, in one of the largest confiscation operations witnessed in the region recently.
Al-Nassan confirmed that the security forces continue to pursue those involved in this operation, and necessary legal measures have been taken against them, as part of ongoing efforts to secure the borders and combat smuggling.
