Injury of Two Firefighters in a Mine Explosion During Forest Fire Fighting in Latakia

Two firefighters from the Syrian Civil Defense were injured while performing their humanitarian duty in extinguishing a forest fire in the Nahshaba area of the Kurd Mountain (eastern Latakia countryside), following the explosion of a mine left by the fallen regime.
This was stated in a statement published via the account of the Minister of Emergency, Raed Saleh, on the "X" platform, where he expressed his deep sorrow for the incident and revealed details of the injuries, saying: "Firefighter Hamoud Al-Hamoud sustained severe injuries that led to the amputation of his leg, while Ammar Abdul Qader suffered minor injuries."
Minister Saleh confirmed that "this painful incident reflects the magnitude of the dangers faced by emergency teams while performing their national duty in protecting citizens and property," praising the sacrifices of the heroes, and said in a literal quote: "We appreciate the sacrifices of our heroes who risk their lives to protect their people, land, and vegetation."
The minister also called for cooperation to confront the ongoing danger, emphasizing that "war remnants still pose a direct threat to response teams and communities, necessitating national and international solidarity to eliminate this danger."
The Syrian Civil Defense continues to carry out its tasks under extremely difficult conditions, amidst multiple dangers led by the remnants of the war left by the fallen regime, despite all challenges and difficulties.
