Professor Mohamed Al-Jilati, from the Faculty of Economics at Damascus University, sent a message to President Ahmed Al-Shara titled "A Message from a Former Minister to the President," as reported by "Sahibat Al-Jalalah" website. The message stated that he had previously served as Minister of Finance from 14/4/2011 to 9/2/2013, and left the ministry upon his request after being threatened with death by the previous regime. Al-Jilati added that during his tenure, he fought against corruption, clashed with Rami Makhlouf and his power lords, and refused to participate in embezzling the country's funds. He explained that he sent the message due to his desire to perform Umrah, but was surprised by a travel ban imposed on him two days ago, considering him part of the remnants of the previous regime. Al-Jilati concluded his message by stating that he would cancel his trip due to the arbitrary measures taken against him, but wanted to address his message publicly to inform the President of the situation. Praise be to God, the Lord of the Worlds.
