The Israeli authorities continue to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque for the seventeenth consecutive day, preventing worshippers from accessing it, in a move they say is related to the security situation resulting from the war on Iran.
Absence of worshippers on the last Friday of Ramadan
The Palestinian news agency reported that worshippers were prevented from performing prayers and retreating in the mosque, leading to their absence from the last Friday of Ramadan, a precedent that has not occurred since the June 1967 war.
Warning against changing the religious and historical status of Al-Aqsa
For its part, the Jerusalem Governorate considered that the Israeli measures cannot be regarded as temporary security measures, but rather fall within a political and ideological path aimed at changing the existing religious, historical, and legal reality in the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Escalation of incitement by Temple groups
The governorate also warned of the escalation of what it described as incitement rhetoric led by groups known as Temple organizations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid the ongoing closure measures and the prevention of worshippers from entering.
