Fidan: Washington is unable to influence Israeli policy and perhaps the opposite is true

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the United States has no real influence on Israeli policy, noting that recent events may sometimes indicate a reverse influence.
Fidan explained in an interview with the program "Happening in Egypt" on MBC Egypt: "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan raises the issue of the situation in Gaza and Syria in every call with U.S. President Donald Trump, but there is a solid internal political reality in the United States regarding issues of control and who controls whom."
The minister pointed out that recent developments show that Washington is not exerting effective pressure on Israel, and its influence may be contrary in some cases.
This comes at a time when the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. officials said President Trump refrains from exerting real pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite increasing discomfort with Israeli military tactics.
Journalist Abdul Qadir Selvi wrote in the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet that there is a radical shift in the relations between the United States and Israel, where Tel Aviv has become crucial in shaping American positions.
In the same context, Navi Pillay, chair of the United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, stated that Israeli leaders, including Netanyahu, are directing policies that incite genocide in Gaza.
The Israeli side is currently facing increasing international pressure, politically and economically, as the conflict in the Gaza Strip continues, and several European countries have already announced a ban on supplying certain components of weapons to Israel.
