Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Yasser Burnia, has issued a new decision canceling the real estate sales tax based on the prevailing value in case of withdrawal from the sale (retraction) without the seller's and buyer's consent, in line with the provisions of Law No. 15 of 2021. The Minister emphasized that the decision aims to facilitate financial procedures for citizens and reduce the burdens that may arise from imposing the tax even if the sale process is not completed officially. The decision specifies that financial directorates in the governorates will consider the retraction process, in all its forms, financially acceptable, whether the tax has been paid or not, provided that the procedures remain within the financial realm and have not been completed in the real estate registration departments. Furthermore, the decision requires a written declaration from the seller and buyer confirming their agreement to cancel the relinquishment of the sale, and this will be their personal responsibility. If the tax has been paid in advance, it will be fully refunded. Minister Burnia pointed out that this decision reflects the ministry's interest in facilitating real estate transactions and reducing the injustice that citizens may face due to taxes imposed on transactions that have not been completed officially, considering the decision as an important step to simplify procedures and stimulate the real estate market to serve the national economy.
