The authorities in Turkey carried out an extensive security campaign that resulted in the arrest of several individuals and the seizure of substantial financial assets, as part of investigations related to money laundering linked to content published on the OnlyFans platform.
Arrest of 16 Suspects and Seizure of Assets Worth Millions
The public prosecutor announced that the campaign led to the detention of 16 individuals, as part of an investigation targeting 25 suspects and two companies, within security operations that spanned 8 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya.
According to the investigations, the value of the seized assets amounted to approximately 300 million Turkish Lira, equivalent to about 6.9 million dollars.
Investigations into Money Laundering and Funding of Digital Activities
The prosecution clarified that the suspects profited by publishing content described as violating local laws through social media platforms, before directing followers to paid platforms like 'OnlyFans', in addition to using private messaging applications including Telegram.
Bypassing the Ban Using Digital Techniques
Despite the ban on the 'OnlyFans' platform within Turkey since 2023, investigations confirmed that the accused managed to access the platform using virtual private networks to circumvent the imposed restrictions.
Suspicious Investments and Seized Assets
The investigations indicated that the financial proceeds were laundered through purchasing real estate and investments in digital assets such as Bitcoin, along with buying gold and other properties.
The authorities also seized 10 properties, 14 vehicles, and two companies linked to the suspects, while the prosecution confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover more details.
