Leaders of France, Germany, and Britain issued a joint statement on Friday welcoming the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, affirming their support for the release of hostages and the resumption of humanitarian aid to the region.

The statement noted praise for the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump, and the efforts made by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey to secure the agreement. The European leaders also emphasized the importance of all parties committing to implement the terms of the agreement without delay, and expressed their readiness to support further discussions on the next stages of the Gaza plan.

The statement also confirmed that the United Nations Security Council must provide its full support for the plan and ensure its implementation, with European commitment to support humanitarian aid packages through UN agencies.

The Spanish Position

For his part, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated that his country demands the urgent opening of Gaza to allow for a wide flow of humanitarian aid, affirming Spain's commitment to providing urgent assistance to the region from the very first moment.

Albares added that Madrid will continue its role in leading the new wave of recognition of the State of Palestine, alongside its ongoing support for humanitarian and relief efforts in Gaza.
