Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that "his country will stand by the Syrians until they regain stability in their homeland," emphasizing "Ankara's commitment to its moral and humanitarian duty towards the Syrian people." Erdogan reiterated during a speech at an expanded meeting of the Justice and Development Party branches' leaders on Tuesday, April 8, that "Turkey will not hesitate to fulfill its responsibilities firmly regarding the Syrian issue." Erdogan also condemned what he described as "Zionist thuggery" in Gaza, pointing out "war crimes being committed openly, including targeting ambulances and field executions of medical teams." The Turkish president emphasized that "his government will continue to confront pressures coming from international lobbies, including the Zionist lobby," affirming that "his country will not remain silent about what is happening in Gaza and will continue to defend the oppressed." Erdogan also mentioned that "his country will raise the issue of the genocide against civilians in Gaza during the Fourth Antalya Diplomatic Forum," stressing that "fueling conflicts and seeking new expansionist maps will not be achieved and will not benefit anyone." The Turkish Ministry of Defense denied the accuracy of media reports claiming talks with Israel regarding establishing a line to de-escalate conflicts in Syria, describing these reports as "malicious and not based on official sources."
