As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, the Egyptian Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Osama Al-Azhar, announced a comprehensive plan to revive the nights of the holy month. He mentioned that Taraweeh prayers will be held with 20 units in major mosques such as Imam Hussein Mosque, Sayeda Zainab Mosque, and Sayeda Nafisa Mosque, with the presence of senior reciters. In other mosques across the country, Taraweeh prayers will consist of 8 units.
The minister emphasized that the ministry will implement the largest preaching and Quranic plan for Ramadan 1446 AH, including Quranic and preaching activities under the supervision of the Central Administration for Mosque Affairs and the Holy Al-Azhar, in collaboration with various relevant entities.
Dr. Osama Al-Azhar clarified that the timing of Taraweeh prayers is not fixed and will be left to the agreement between mosque-goers and imams. Some mosques in each neighborhood or area will be designated for complete Quran recitation daily during the blessed month.
Additionally, the Ministry of Awqaf will organize a program of religious chants at Imam Hussein Mosque with the participation of renowned chanters on different nights of the week. The program also includes Quranic recitations after Asr prayers in the same mosque with various reciters on different days of the week.
The ministry will also launch daily intellectual forums after Isha prayers at Imam Hussein Mosque for male preachers and after Dhuhr prayers at Sayeda Nafisa Mosque or Sayeda Zainab Mosque for female preachers, under the supervision of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Religious Sector.
Special programs for Tahajjud prayers will be held at Imam Hussein Mosque with the participation of prominent sheikhs. The ministry also announced the largest mosque cleaning campaign in the last week of Sha'ban to ensure a spiritually pure atmosphere for worshippers.
With these steps, the Ministry of Awqaf is preparing to welcome the blessed month of Ramadan with special spiritual activities, combining recitation, chants, intellectual sermons, and Tahajjud prayers, making mosques beacons of remembrance and worship during the holy month.
