For the first time since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the drones that breached Polish airspace yesterday, Tuesday, came directly from Belarus.
This was stated in a speech Tusk delivered before parliament, where he said: "For the first time, these drones have reached our territory coming from Belarus."
In contrast, Belarus announced that it shot down drones that veered off course due to electronic jamming during the exchange of strikes between Russia and Ukraine.
Minsk clarified that it informed both Poland and Lithuania about the presence of those drones that approached its borders.
General Pavel Muraveiko, Chief of the General Staff in Belarus, stated in an official English-language statement:
"During the nighttime confrontations between Russia and Ukraine using drones, the air defense forces in Belarus tracked those drones that veered off course due to electronic interference from both sides."
He added:
"Some of these drones were shot down over Belarusian territory, and Poland and Lithuania were warned of their approach."
However, the statement did not clarify which party owns these veering drones, leaving room for speculation amid escalating tensions in the region.
This comes at a time when the Russian-Ukrainian conflict continues to escalate, amid ongoing international movements.
