Drone Attack on Sevastopol: Russian Defenses Shoot Down Dozens of Drones

The city of Sevastopol in the Russian Republic of Crimea witnessed an unprecedented attack by Ukrainian forces, using drones loaded with metal balls, resulting in the destruction of more than 10 houses and 11 cars.
The city's governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev, announced that air defense systems shot down 26 drones during the attack, noting that the metal balls acted as "shrapnel" flying at high speed upon explosion, increasing the area of destruction and the likelihood of injury to people and damage to property.
Razvozhayev wrote on his Telegram channel:
"Last night, our air defense systems and our fleet in the Black Sea repelled the attack of Ukrainian forces. In total, more than 26 drones loaded with metal balls were shot down."
Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that its forces shot down 149 Ukrainian drones over several regions of the country on the night of Thursday to Friday, distributed as follows:
• 57 drones over Bryansk Oblast
• 28 drones over the Black Sea
• 24 drones over the Sea of Azov
• 20 drones over the Republic of Crimea
• 17 drones over Krasnodar Krai
• 2 drones over Rostov Oblast
• 1 drone over Belgorod Oblast
The attack reflects a new escalation in the confrontations between Russia and Ukraine, raising questions about the continued use of drones as strategic weapons in the current conflict.
