A Heritage Band Roams the Streets of Turkey to Wake the Fasters

In a unique Ramadan experience, the neighborhoods of Nevşehir, Turkey, have turned into a morning musical stage, as the "Mehtaran" band roams the streets to wake residents before dawn in a style different from the traditional drummers.

Music Embraces the Streets

Band members carry powerful drums and wind instruments, wearing traditional Ottoman attire, while windows open and lights ignite to welcome the sounds that reflect the city's heritage and the spirit of Ramadan.

Community Participation

The musicians stop in front of buildings to greet residents, some of whom come out to meet the band and document the moments with photos and videos, in an atmosphere filled with vitality and celebration.

A Tradition Renewed Every Week

The municipality plans to repeat these tours in all neighborhoods of the city weekly throughout Ramadan, to establish this event as a musical cultural heritage accompanying the fasters every night.
