Deir ez-Zor Governor: The Reconstruction of the City is a National Necessity and a Start for the Revival of Syria

Al-Sayed Ahmad explained that the governorate faces a tremendous challenge represented by the existence of more than 35,000 destroyed buildings, which are being gradually restored, relying on the Syrian Development Fund to support small and medium projects that contribute to revitalizing the local economy.
Regarding urgent needs, the governor revealed that Deir ez-Zor needs $172 million as emergency funding to cover the priorities of reconstruction and basic services, pointing out that the issue of mines poses a significant security and humanitarian challenge, as studies indicate the presence of 316,000 mines in the governorate, of which about 32,000 have been removed, while the number of victims so far has reached 72 cases.
In terms of health services, the governor announced the opening of new medical centers in several areas, and efforts are underway to provide an MRI machine to support advanced medical diagnosis, along with ongoing efforts to install electrical transformers and maintain the supply lines coming through the Homs line, at a monthly pace.
Al-Sayed Ahmad confirmed that the governorate is working within the available capabilities to secure basic services, pointing out that there is a specialized working team that is developing plans for urban expansion to address the housing crisis and provide a suitable environment for return and stability.
The governor concluded by saying that Deir ez-Zor represents a starting point for rebuilding Syria, especially after the liberation of the resource-rich Al-Jazira region, which opens wide horizons for development and investment in the upcoming phase.
