Consultative Meeting Between the Syrian Network for Human Rights and the National Commission for Transitional Justice

The meeting included the head of the commission, Abd al-Baset Abd al-Latif, along with several members of his team, as well as the director of the network, Fadel Abd al-Ghani, and his legal team, where both parties discussed the vision presented by the network regarding transitional justice and the obstacles hindering its implementation in the Syrian context.
During the meeting, Abd al-Ghani emphasized the importance of considering transitional justice as a national path that serves the victims of violations, confirming the network's readiness to provide its database that documents thousands of incidents since 2011, which contributes to supporting the commission's efforts and achieving tangible results. He also pointed to the necessity of complementary work between official institutions and civil society organizations to ensure effectiveness and speed in achievement.
For his part, the head of the National Commission for Transitional Justice affirmed the importance of recognizing the rights of victims, revealing the truth, and ensuring their effective participation in shaping the future of justice, indicating that the commission seeks to build strategic partnerships with Syrian human rights entities experienced in documentation and fieldwork.
Both parties agreed to continue regular meetings and expand the framework of coordination in the upcoming phase, which enhances the path of transitional justice and ensures a realistic response to its challenges. At the end of the meeting, the Syrian Network for Human Rights expressed its appreciation to the National Commission for accepting the invitation and its commitment to dialogue and consultation, affirming the importance of this cooperation in building a comprehensive justice path that serves the Syrian community.
