The Civil Defense in Latakia Governorate announced today, Thursday, that firefighting teams were able to stop the spread of the flames and enter the control phase of more than 80% of the fire hotspots ignited in the countryside of the governorate.
It clarified that the field teams began implementing cooling operations in more than ten locations, while continuing to deal with the remaining active hotspots to prevent the flames from reigniting.
The operations room confirmed that the priority is focused on protecting villages, properties, and natural forests, noting that efforts are ongoing around the clock amid difficult weather conditions.
Civil Defense officials hope that the extinguishing operations will be fully completed in the coming hours, after days of continuous work to limit the spread of the fires.
