The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed today, Tuesday, that Iran's Natanz nuclear facility has sustained damage due to recent attacks, noting that the damage affected parts of the entrance buildings associated with the underground fuel enrichment facility.
The statement from the United Nations agency indicated that initial technical assessments detected damage to the external infrastructure, without extending to the sensitive facilities deep inside.
No Signs of Radiation Leakage
The agency emphasized that it "does not expect any radiological consequences," confirming that no abnormal radiation levels have been recorded at the site or in its vicinity so far, which alleviates concerns related to the safety of nuclear facilities during military escalation.
Previous Iranian Notification
Tehran had informed the agency on Monday about the bombing of the Natanz facility as part of the attacks that began last Saturday, amid ongoing military escalation.
These developments come at a time when the region is experiencing rising tensions, amid international fears of the situation slipping into a broader confrontation that could affect vital and sensitive facilities.
