British Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hamish Falconer, warned that the crisis in Iran may continue for weeks and possibly months, emphasizing before the British Parliament that the current situation in the region "is evolving rapidly, but it is not a short-term crisis."
Falconer's statements came two days after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the deployment of helicopters equipped with anti-drone capabilities to Cyprus, in addition to the deployment of the naval destroyer Dragon equipped with air defense capabilities, as part of efforts to enhance regional security and protect British interests.
The British Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that the Akrotiri base of the Royal Air Force in Cyprus was attacked by a drone, causing limited material damage without any human casualties.
These British moves are part of efforts to secure the region from a potential escalation amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran and its allies in the region on the other.
