A senior American official revealed to CNN that about 12 countries have contacted the United States in an attempt to mediate to stop the American-Israeli war on Iran, which has entered its sixth day, amid ongoing military operations and escalating regional tensions.
The official confirmed that these countries expressed a desire to know if they could help resolve the crisis, but Washington has not engaged in any negotiations or direct communication with Tehran so far. He added: "There are no serious discussions about halting military operations, and the situation must take its military course."
Previous reports indicated that Iranian intelligence had informed the United States of its readiness to open communication channels to end the conflict, through a third country, but Tehran denied these reports, asserting that it would not respond to any American messages.
The American network clarified that U.S. envoy Steve Wittkoff, who conducted three rounds of negotiations with Iran before the strikes, had not been in direct contact with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi or senior Iranian national security officials, including Ali Larijani.
In this context, the American official emphasized that the current situation is "entirely military," and that any potential solutions to stop the war are unlikely in the near term.
