Britain Imposes Sanctions on 12 Individuals and Entities Linked to Iran Due to Hostile Activities

Britain today, Monday, imposed new sanctions on 12 individuals and entities linked to Iran, accusing them of involvement in hostile activities including planning attacks and providing financial services to groups seeking to destabilize the United Kingdom and other countries.

British Sanctions Target Individuals and Entities Linked to Iran

The British government stated that the new sanctions included individuals and entities suspected of being connected to the "Zindashti" criminal network, along with several currency exchange offices and financial sector workers, accusing the network of participating in activities supported by Iran.

London added that the network is involved in threatening to carry out attacks or planning them, in addition to executing operations targeting individuals and properties within Britain and in other countries.

British Sanctions Include Freezing Assets and Travel Bans

According to the government notice regarding the sanctions, the new measures include freezing assets, imposing travel bans, and preventing certain individuals from holding managerial positions.

The British government clarified that some individuals subject to sanctions are accused of direct involvement in hostile acts, while others face charges of providing financial services and material support that facilitated those activities.

Britain Accuses Financial Entities of Assisting Networks Linked to Iran

British authorities confirmed that the financial entities included in the sanctions provided services to individuals and groups linked to activities described as "destabilizing," enabling networks associated with Iran to transfer and obtain funds despite the sanctions and international restrictions imposed on them.

Iran Denies Involvement in Attacks or Conspiracies Inside Britain

In contrast, Iran has repeatedly denied any connection to attacks or conspiracies inside Britain or in other countries, asserting its rejection of Western accusations related to supporting hostile activities outside its borders.

British Police Investigate Attacks Targeting Jewish Sites in London

Last month, British police announced the opening of investigations regarding potential links to Iran in a series of arson attacks targeting Jewish sites in London, prompting authorities to launch counter-terrorism investigations.

The British police also issued warnings about the rising hostile activities linked to Tehran or groups acting on its behalf within the United Kingdom.

Britain Raises Terror Threat Level to “Severe”

Britain raised the terror threat level to "Severe," the second highest level in the security threat classification, amid warnings of an increased risk of attacks and rising concerns over hostile activities linked to foreign countries, including Iran.

Escalation of Western Sanctions on Iran Recently

The new British sanctions come at a time when relations between Iran and Western countries are witnessing increasing escalation, especially after previous sanctions targeting the Iranian ministries of oil and energy, in addition to dozens of entities linked to the Iranian nuclear program.
