Barcelona is preparing for an unprecedented match against Villarreal in the American city of Miami on December 20, marking the first official experience of La Liga outside its borders.
According to Spanish media reports, both clubs will receive financial returns ranging from 5 to 7 million euros, a figure that reflects the commercial and media interest in the match to be held at the "Hard Rock" stadium.
This step comes after the approval of the European Football Association, amid significant organizational arrangements overseen by the Spanish Football Federation and the "La Liga" association. The association's president, Javier Tebas, described it as a "historic moment" that will open new horizons for marketing Spanish football globally.
For his part, Villarreal president Fernando Roig announced that his club's management will cover the travel costs for the team's fans to the United States, in an effort to ensure strong attendance in the stands and support for the players.
This experience is the culmination of previous attempts that began in 2018 to hold a match between Barcelona and Girona abroad, which did not materialize at that time due to widespread objections, before finally succeeding this season.
