The Bahraini Public Prosecution demanded, during a trial session held this afternoon, the implementation of the death penalty against defendants accused of treason and espionage, after they photographed prohibited locations with the intent of delivering sensitive security information, according to local newspapers.
The prosecution confirmed that the actions of the defendants represent a blatant betrayal of the homeland, based on what it described as the difficult circumstances currently facing the kingdom due to external threats.

Treason and Its Penalty
The Public Prosecution stated: "What the defendants did cannot be considered just a passing transgression, but represents high treason that warrants the harshest penalties against them without any mercy," in a clear reference to the death penalty stipulated in Bahraini law for these crimes.
It clarified that the session was a preliminary procedural one in which the full defense or final evidence presentation had not yet been completed, but aimed to clarify the extent of the damage caused by the defendants' actions and their motives.
Security Context and Motives
The prosecution confirmed that the case comes at a time when Bahrain faces external threats and hostile acts, indicating that the defendants collaborated with an organization classified by the state as terrorist for the purpose of carrying out acts against the kingdom.
The prosecution stated: "In the midst of these difficult circumstances, there are those among the sons of the homeland who raise the banners of loyalty to the aggressors and betray this noble homeland that sheltered them and provided for them from its bounty."
Trial Follow-up
It is scheduled that trial sessions will continue soon, with the presentation of evidence and proofs that substantiate the charges against the defendants, to determine the final penalty according to Bahraini law, in a case considered the most sensitive at present due to its security nature and national betrayal.
