Amid escalating tensions between the world's two largest economies, Chinese state media accused the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump of being the more eager party to start trade negotiations, refuting Washington's claims that Beijing initiated contact. The report published by the "Yuyuan Tantian" network, a subsidiary of the Chinese Radio and Television Authority, cited informed sources stating that the United States had been trying to open channels of dialogue for some time, under increasing internal pressure on the Trump administration, both from the economic front and public opinion. The ongoing trade war between the two parties has led Trump to impose massive tariffs of up to 145% on most imported Chinese products, while Beijing retaliated by imposing tariffs of 125% on U.S. imports, escalating the crisis without signs of a near resolution. Nevertheless, Beijing indicates that it is open to dialogue, but insists that it be based on mutual respect, not under threat or pressure. In contrast, the Chinese Foreign Ministry remains silent on U.S. allegations, while Beijing asserts that it will continue the confrontation "to the end" if Washington continues to escalate measures. China recently released an official video reaffirming that it "will not kneel," reflecting its determination not to back down in the face of American pressure.
