The Syrian General Security arrested on Wednesday the former member of the People's Council, Khalid Al-Aboud, known for his support of the ousted Assad regime. The media office official at the Ministry of Interior confirmed Khalid Al-Aboud's arrest without providing further details on the case. Al-Aboud was not arrested in his hometown of Daraa, as confirmed by a source in the General Security of the province, following rumors that the arrest took place there. The Ministry of Interior has not officially announced Khalid Al-Aboud's arrest and the details of the arrest so far. Al-Aboud headed various Syrian parliamentary, party, cultural, and intellectual delegations during the Syrian revolution to participate in conferences, seminars, and associations, both Arab and foreign. He was a key member in numerous Arab and international research and political conferences, in various Arab and national committees, and in several intellectual research bodies. Over the past 14 years, his name has been featured in official local and Arab media outlets, promoting the narrative of the ousted regime regarding the events in Syria since 2011.
