The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank announced the selection of Abu Dhabi to host their annual meetings in 2029, following a vote by the boards of governors of both institutions.

Return to the UAE After More Than Two Decades

This hosting marks the return of the annual meetings to the United Arab Emirates after nearly 26 years, as the last time the country hosted this event was in Dubai in 2003.

A Global Economic Event Gathering Key Decision Makers

The annual meetings are among the most significant economic events globally, bringing together central bank governors, finance and development ministers, along with private sector leaders, to discuss global economic challenges.
The agenda of the meetings includes issues such as economic growth, financial stability, inflation, and international cooperation.

A Rotating System Between Washington and Countries Worldwide

These meetings are typically held for two consecutive years at the institutions' headquarters in Washington, then organized in one of the member countries every three years, giving host countries the opportunity to enhance their international economic presence.

Bangkok to Host the 2026 Edition

Before the Abu Dhabi stop, the annual meetings for 2026 are scheduled to take place in Bangkok in October, as part of the regular event schedule.
