In a strange and astonishing incident, a fire broke out in a small café in Los Palacios in Villafranca, Seville province, Spain, after a 50-year-old man lost his temper due to the staff's refusal to put "mayonnaise" on his sandwich.
Surveillance cameras captured the shocking moments when the man began pouring gasoline on the café floor before igniting it, leading to a large fire that forced customers, including elderly children, to flee quickly for their safety.
Despite the chaos, the man himself suffered burns on his left hand while trying to extinguish the fire with his hands, before fleeing the scene using his right hand in desperate attempts.
Details of the incident were revealed by local media, which indicated that the man had requested mayonnaise twice from the café staff, who explained to him that the sandwiches were ready and did not contain sauces like mayonnaise due to the lack of a kitchen in the café.
This angered the man to the extent that he went to a nearby gas station, bought one and a half liters of gasoline, and returned to ignite the café.
The café owner, José Antonio Caballero, described the incident as "a strange matter," pointing out that the man did not give the waiter a chance to respond the second time before he started the fire.
He confirmed that the fire did not result in anyone being injured except for the man himself.
The fire caused damages estimated between 8,000 to 9,000 euros, while the police intervened quickly and arrested the man, who was taken to the hospital for treatment, and is now in custody, set to appear in court soon.
The man is known to be from the neighboring province of Córdoba, but his name has not yet been revealed. The incident left a shock in the hearts of the town's residents and raised questions about the unexpected reactions to seemingly simple reasons, such as requesting "mayonnaise."
