Zelensky Sends Ukrainian Drones to Protect US Bases in Jordan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that his country has sent advanced interceptor drones and a team of experts to protect US bases in Jordan, following a request for assistance from the United States.
In an interview with The New York Times, Zelensky explained that the US request arrived last Thursday, and the Ukrainian team departed the following day, expecting the experts to arrive in the Middle East soon.
The sent drones included:
• Sting: Developed by Wild Hornets specifically to intercept and destroy Iranian “Shahed” drones, it has proven highly effective during the Ukraine-Russia war.
• General Cherry Bullet: One of the most effective interceptor drones in Ukraine, part of the new generation designed to pursue slow Iranian drones, and Washington is considering purchasing it from Kyiv.
• Octopus: Designed to chase and take down suicide drones, it has attracted US interest due to its field testing and low-cost effectiveness.
This support comes amid the escalating war between the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran on the other, since February 28, during which Tehran has targeted multiple sites in Gulf countries with hundreds of relatively low-cost drones, aiming at US interests and bases.
At the same time, Washington is seeking effective means to counter the threats posed by Iranian “Shahed” drones, and the low-cost, high-effectiveness Ukrainian drones appear to be an ideal option for this challenge.
