An American official revealed on Thursday that about 300 American soldiers left the Tanf base located at the border triangle between Syria, Jordan, and Iraq, as part of a repositioning of forces.
The official explained that nearly 1,000 soldiers are still deployed in several locations in northeastern Syria, noting the possibility of withdrawing more troops in the coming period if the field conditions allow it.
The official added that the growing role of Syrian government forces in confronting the "state" organization contributes to reducing the American presence, while emphasizing that Washington will continue to target the organization through airstrikes carried out from outside Syrian territory to maintain pressure on it and prevent its return.
