The Shubra El-Kheima Criminal Court upheld on Monday the death sentence issued against a defendant by hanging, after he was convicted of murdering a child and assaulting his corpse by removing his organs, in one of the most horrific criminal cases that shook Egyptian public opinion.
The court also sentenced the defendant's accomplice, a 15-year-old minor, to 15 years in prison, bringing the total penalties against him to 45 years in prison for related offenses.
The details of the crime date back to April 2024, where investigations revealed that the defendants lured the child under the pretext of giving him a gift, before drugging and killing him, then removing his organs and filming the crime to publish the clips on the dark web for the purpose of making illegal financial gains.
The court emphasized in its reasoning the seriousness and heinousness of the crime, and what it represents as a direct threat to community security and the safety of children.
