Avenging a Years-Long Loss

Holloway had triumphed in their first encounter in 2015, when Oliveira was forced to withdraw early due to an esophagus injury less than two minutes into the fight.
However, the new bout had a different character, as the Brazilian fighter managed to impose his fighting style and force his opponent to fight at his pace.

Ground Control and Submission Attempts

Oliveira began his attack early, knocking Holloway down just 30 seconds into the fight, then attempted a rear-naked choke during the first round.

Despite the intensity of the bout, Oliveira expressed great respect for his opponent, saying after the fight:
