The Norwegian police announced on Sunday that the explosion targeting the US embassy in Oslo may be a deliberate act linked to security tensions in the Middle East.

The police statement indicated that an investigation is currently underway, and there are no specific suspects identified so far, with increased measures to protect Jewish and Iranian communities in the country.

Police spokesperson Michael Delemer confirmed that the explosion occurred at the public entrance of the embassy in the Morgedalsveien neighborhood, about 7 kilometers from downtown Oslo, noting that the police are conducting extensive searches in the surrounding area.

Images on social media showed shattered glass and cracks in the doors, along with burn marks on the tiled floor, while the police urged citizens to provide any information that may help identify the perpetrators.
