The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad Warns Its Citizens: Urgent Departure Necessary Amid Threats of Rockets and Drones

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad renewed its warnings to American citizens in Iraq on Sunday, urging immediate departure due to increasing security threats.

The embassy noted that Iran and armed factions linked to it pose a danger to the safety of foreigners, with infrastructure sites and hotels hosting foreigners being targeted by rocket and drone attacks.

The embassy warned against gathering in places associated with the United States and advised those who choose to stay to adhere to "remaining in safe locations for extended periods" and to stock up on food, water, and medicine.

These warnings come after the announcement by what is known as the "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" of carrying out 24 operations in the past twenty-four hours using rockets and drones against U.S. bases in Iraq and surrounding areas.

The statement indicated that the attacks targeted the U.S. Embassy in the Green Zone, Baghdad Airport, and the provinces of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, amid ongoing regional conflict since February 28.
