UEFA announces Madrid and Warsaw to host the Champions League final 2027 and postpones the decision on holding matches outside Europe

The decision came during a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association in the Albanian capital Tirana, where the city of Salzburg in Austria was also approved to host the UEFA Super Cup for 2026, while the men's Champions League final will be held in Budapest, and the women's final in Oslo during the same year.
Matches outside Europe: UEFA studies the requests and postpones the decision
The Executive Committee discussed requests submitted by the Spanish and Italian leagues to hold local matches outside the continent, the most notable of which are:
- A match between Milan and Como in the Australian city of Perth, which received approval from the Italian federation
- A match between Villarreal and Barcelona in the American city of Miami, after the Spanish federation's approval last month
UEFA confirmed in an official statement that this issue is "important and growing," but emphasized the need for extensive consultations with the concerned parties, including fans, before making any final decision, noting that there are "a number of regulatory and legal issues that require careful study."
In this context, fan associations from various parts of Europe expressed their rejection of these plans, considering that moving matches outside European borders undermines the principle of equal opportunities and serves short-term commercial interests at the expense of sporting values.
