The UAE summoned Israeli Deputy Ambassador David Horsandi today, Friday, to a meeting described by the Hebrew media as a 'reprimand and clarification', following the recent Israeli attack on Qatar, as well as a warning against any Israeli steps to annex areas in the West Bank.
During the meeting, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, stated that Abu Dhabi would not tolerate annexation, emphasizing that the continuation of relations with Israel would be difficult if this step were taken. The minister also protested against the infringement on Qatar's sovereignty and the timing of the Israeli attack, which occurred during negotiations between Hamas and the United States.
The Hebrew newspaper 'Yedioth Ahronoth' noted that the meeting focused more on the issue of annexation than others, while the Israeli side attempted to justify the attack as a response to Hamas's actions, whereas the UAE stressed the necessity of respecting sovereignty and diplomatic borders.
