New York City witnessed a massive demonstration coinciding with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech before the United Nations General Assembly, where thousands demanded his arrest and an end to the war on Gaza.
Protesters set off from Times Square in the morning, raising Palestinian flags and holding signs that read: "Stop U.S. aid to Israel," "Arrest war criminal Netanyahu," and "Stop starving Gaza now!".
The demonstrators expressed their joy when organizers announced that several world leaders left the United Nations hall during Netanyahu's speech, chanting: "Hey Netanyahu, you can't hide, we accuse you of genocide!".
Police stated that about 2000 protesters participated in the march towards the United Nations headquarters, where they closed several main streets. Additional protests were organized upon Netanyahu's arrival in New York, one of which resulted in the arrest of 14 people during a nighttime vigil outside his hotel.
These demonstrations come as part of a growing wave of protests in universities and major cities across the United States, rejecting the war on Gaza and the ongoing U.S. support for Israel.
