The Security Council condemns the attack on Doha and reaffirms its support for Qatar's sovereignty and its regional role

Members of the United Nations Security Council expressed their condemnation of the recent attacks targeting the Qatari capital, Doha, in an official statement today, Thursday, affirming that these assaults represent a serious violation of the sovereignty of a member state of the United Nations and require a unified international stance to deter escalation.

The Council emphasized its full support for Qatar's sovereignty and territorial integrity, in line with the United Nations Charter, calling for a reduction of military escalation in the region and avoiding any steps that could destabilize regional security or undermine mediation efforts.

Members of the Council also affirmed the importance of the vital role that Qatar plays in regional and international mediation efforts, alongside Egypt and the United States, noting that these roles have contributed to easing tensions and enhancing opportunities for political solutions in multiple files, most notably the Palestinian issue and the Sudanese crisis.

This UN stance comes in the wake of the Israeli attack targeting leaders of the "Hamas" movement in Doha, which sparked a wave of Arab and international condemnation and prompted Qatar to call for an emergency Arab-Islamic summit to discuss the implications of the escalation.
