Return of the movie "The Gathering Killer" to cinemas after removing controversial scenes

Egyptian censorship re-releases the movie "The Gathering Killer"
The Egyptian censorship authority has decided to re-release the movie "The Gathering Killer" in theaters, after the production company removed scenes that violated censorship guidelines.
The age rating of the film has been raised to above 18 years, with cinemas set to start screening the film again on the evening of Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
Reasons for the temporary withdrawal of the film
The crisis dates back to last week when the production company was surprised by the film's withdrawal and ban just four hours after its screening.
The censorship statement clarified that the version shown included events and scenes not present in the approved script, as well as containing scenes of extreme violence that violated licensing conditions.
Intervention of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture
The Egyptian Ministry of Culture intervened to resolve the crisis and formed a technical committee to view the film and assess the violating scenes.
After technical and artistic examination, the committee recommended removing some scenes and raising the age rating of the work to 18 years and above, in addition to modifying some phrases on the film's promotional images.
Implementation of recommendations and re-screening
The production company implemented all the recommendations of the official committee and sent a report to the censorship authority for the film to be released again.
Thus, it became possible for the Egyptian audience to watch the work after applying all the required modifications.
