The Palestinian Presidency expresses its regret over the US veto against a ceasefire in Gaza

The Palestinian presidency expressed today its regret and surprise at the United States' obstruction of a draft resolution in the Security Council calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, despite the approval of 14 member states of the council for the draft.
The spokesperson for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, stated that the draft resolution aimed to immediately cease fire and end the crimes committed against the defenseless Palestinian people, emphasizing that the use of the US veto encourages Israel to continue its aggressive practices.
Abu Rudeineh added that the United States bears responsibility for the continuation of aggression against the Palestinian people, noting that the resolution drafted by the ten non-permanent members of the council also called for:
Facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and ensuring its distribution to civilians without obstacles,
Releasing all Israeli prisoners held by Hamas,
Removing the Israeli restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid into the sector.
Contrary to the American veto, the other fourteen members of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution, indicating international support for the Palestinian demands to stop the Israeli aggression.
The Palestinian presidency called on the US administration to review its positions and act in a way that preserves international law and UN resolutions, as confirmed by Abu Rudeineh.
