Russia called on the United States on Wednesday to reconsider its decision to deny visas to the Palestinian delegation participating in the high-level United Nations General Assembly week.
This was stated by Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, during a session of the United Nations Security Council, where he said: "We call on Washington to reconsider its decision to deny visas to members of the Palestinian delegation participating in the high-level week of the General Assembly."
Nebenzya pointed out that the United States' attempts to exploit the visa issue for political gain is infuriating, emphasizing the importance of allowing Palestinians to participate in international events without obstacles.
The U.S. State Department announced on August 29 that it would cancel or deny visas to Palestinian officials, including Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, before the convening of the United Nations General Assembly session.
