Minister of Transport, Dr. Yarub Badr, discussed on Thursday with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Damascus, Wahid Mubarak Sayyar, the prospects of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various transportation sectors. The meeting addressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in sustainable transportation and digital transformation to align with global developments in the transportation sector. It also emphasized the need to develop the land transportation network between the two countries through exchanging expertise and implementing smart solutions to enhance efficiency and services. Minister Badr proposed the formation of a joint technical committee for land transportation between the two countries to study transportation issues, monitor the implementation of joint projects, address technical and logistical challenges, and propose suitable solutions to enhance integration in this vital sector. Both sides highlighted the importance of exchanging technical visits between experts, activating signed agreements, exploring the possibility of signing new memoranda of understanding to keep up with current developments and meet future aspirations. They noted that with the recent advancements in sustainable transportation and digital transformation, updating these agreements or signing new memoranda of understanding that reflect current challenges and opportunities, including developing digital infrastructure and implementing smart solutions in the land transportation sector, may be beneficial. Ambassador Sayyar expressed Bahrain's interest in expanding cooperation with Syria, emphasizing the importance of developing transportation infrastructure to enhance economic and commercial ties between the two brotherly countries.
