Syrian Minister of Emergency and Qatari Ambassador discuss enhancing cooperation in disaster response areas.

Syrian Minister of Emergencies and Disasters, Raed Al-Saleh, met with the Ambassador of Qatar in Damascus, Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al Sharif, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the field of emergency and disaster management, and to build technical and human capacities for Syrian teams.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of "supporting advanced training programs targeting Syrian civil defense teams," with a particular focus on improving efficiency in dealing with complex scenarios in "ports, airports, and oil facilities" to ensure higher readiness in facing emergencies.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of implementing "joint field operations at the international level," where the "Qatari International Search and Rescue Group with the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya)" collaborates with Syrian civil defense teams at response sites to exchange experiences and enhance specialized performance.
Minister Al-Saleh highlighted the challenges facing the ministry's work, especially the "lack of technical equipment and heavy machinery," pointing out efforts to launch a "Professional Safety Certificate in Facilities" as part of a national plan aimed at enhancing a safe working environment and reducing risks.
The Qatari Ambassador, in turn, affirmed his country's readiness to provide the necessary support to enhance the ministry's capabilities, emphasizing the importance of "developing sustainable solutions to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of response in various circumstances."
