Days before its anticipated opening, the Grand Egyptian Museum is witnessing intensive preparations to welcome its visitors in an exceptional global event added to modern Egypt's history.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, announced that the museum's opening will be on November 1, 2025, after the approval of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, directing all relevant authorities to ensure the museum and its surrounding area are fully prepared.
In this context, an unofficial promotional announcement for the Grand Egyptian Museum sparked a wave of controversy on social media after it featured Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and Argentine football star Lionel Messi.
Businessman Naguib Sawiris posted the advertisement clip on his account on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter) with a clear criticism, asking: "If we have the Egyptian Salah, is Messi really necessary or not?" referring to the notion that Messi's participation in the advertisement is unnecessary.
However, it later became clear that this advertisement did not come from official government entities, but was produced privately using artificial intelligence techniques, executed by Khaled Abdel Rahman from one of the private production companies, and has no connection to the official bodies responsible for promoting the museum.
This announcement comes at a time when Egypt is preparing one of the largest and most important cultural landmarks in the world, with expectations that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum will be a prominent event reflecting the richness of Egyptian history and civilization.
