The Egyptian Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Hano, immediately responded to the call of the esteemed artist Nagwa Fouad, after her plea regarding her difficult health and living conditions, affirming his great appreciation for her artistic career.
The minister stated that he would communicate with Dr. Ashraf Zaki, the head of the Actors' Syndicate, to provide the appropriate support, noting the formation of a joint committee from the ministry and the syndicate to visit the artist today, Saturday, to address her main issues and work on resolving them urgently.
Artist Nagwa Fouad had made an emotional plea during a phone call with journalist Mahmoud Al-Jalfi on the program "With a Different View" on Al-Shams Channel, where she revealed that she lives on a rental income and a pension that does not exceed 600 Egyptian pounds per month, emphasizing that she does not wish to live in a nursing home and is only seeking a "decent life".
She said: "We are the generation that received small amounts, not millions… treatment has become expensive and doctors' fees are high, and I live in a rented house and do not own any properties or closed shops. Please pay attention to us a little; we have contributed significantly and want to live a humane life."
Nagwa's plea sparked widespread interaction among the public and social media users, who called for support for the pioneers of Egyptian art in appreciation of their long-standing contributions.
